Marianne and Joan have recently collaborated to record “Duele” which is part of Marianne’s highly successful album “Solo”. The music is a departure from Joan’s own repertoire with a melding of Gypsy & Flamenco music but also blends with a strong Folk music presence.

The act will include Gabriel Harris , percussionist and son of Joan Baez, who regularly performs with Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, as well as performing internationally with Joan Baez.

Joan Baez describes Marianne Aya Omac best:

“Marianne Aya Omac is an astonishing talent, new to many. A superb vocalist, guitar aficionado, and first-rate songwriter, she writes and performs in Spanish, French, and English. She is a gypsy by nature, and her music ranges from the fiery rhythms of the Gipsy Kings, to the lyrical passion of a French love song, and the barely contained abandon of an American gospel choir.
Her own passionate love of life and social justice creates songs and moods that are moving, emotional, danceable, and uplifting.
We will soon see her bright light, which has been traveling under the radar for too long, rise to become the rightful star she is destined to be.
I am fortunate to be a part of her life and music, having recorded a duet with her for her new album, SOLO.”

MARIANNE AYA OMAC:

Singer, songwriter, guitarist, Marianne Aya Omac has a warm and powerful voice with incredible energy and ease. Her live performances and records demonstrate her impressive diversity. Her love of music started at the age of 9. After 5 years of piano she discovered the music of Joan Baez which then inspired her to learn guitar and write her first songs.

Marianne was born in Montpellier, France where she developed her skills in the heart of the streets. People passing by were awestruck at Marianne’s skills. Through hard work and exposure Marianne soon found herself performing in large concert halls.

Marianne traveled extensively in Latin America where she further refined her already beautiful playing into something even more unique. Her first 2 albums, with her band Ginkobiloba, sold more than 20,000 copies. Marianne left this project in 2005 to pursue working with 2 Gospel choirs which she wrote more than 20 songs for. With this sense of gospel music mixed with Latin and Gypsy style she pursued her solo work in 2008. By July 2011 she created her album “Solo”.

Marianne and folk legend Joan Baez met in Paris in 2011 and since then have not only become good friend but also an incredible duo, as well as performing together with other musicians. They released the track “Duele” as part of “Solo” and since then have performed together in many countries.
